How This Works
My goal is to provide new music for a variety of vocal and instrumental solos and ensembles that will be useful for concerts and contests. A full score and audio of each piece is available to preview prior to purchase. Most works also include an audio only link just below the score that is a better mixed, higher quality recording. The audio files are created via a library of digitally sampled acoustic instruments that will hopefully eventually be replaced by recordings of actual groups and performers. These will be chosen from recordings submitted by you here.
While digital samples have come a long way using actual sampled instruments, there are a few things to consider when you listen:
1. The computer has no respect for ritardandos and accelerandos.
2. Rolls on pitched and non-pitched percussion instruments are a little too precise, often resembling machine gun fire.
3. While the digital instruments are sampled in each register of their distinctive ranges, some notes in the more extreme ranges may sound a bit harsh.
4. Sometimes the computer selects the wrong percussion instrument in the playback. This is particularly true with suspended cymbals and triangles. So, trust your eyes, not your ears when listening to and following a score.
5. Sadly, technology is not quite ready for prime time with vocal music. Vocal solos, ensembles and choirs are relegated to syllabic (usually “ah”) representations of their representative works. As soon as the technology catches up, these will be replaced with more accurate performances or, better yet, actual performances will be uploaded by you to replace them.
Purchases of works with separate score and parts include a printed copy of the score, shipped separately. Additional printed copies of the score are also available, if needed. For example, when you purchase a work for concert band, your cart will include the print and download versions of the full score, at no charge, as well as the set of parts for download. Digital downloads are exempt from sales tax, so no sales tax is collected at the time of checkout. Your download links will appear on the receipt that is emailed to you, as well as on your My Accounts page, in the Downloads section. Your download links do not expire, but they are for you and your organization only. Just like the printed music that remains in the music library when you leave the organization, you will need to purchase new copies if you move to a new organization. All scores are stamped with your licensee information as proof of purchase. General instructions for printing can be found here. Please note all of the PDF downloads can also easily be viewed and performed with a tablet, using software such as forScore. The printed copy of your score will be shipped to you no later than the next business day and a notification email with tracking information will be sent to you. Please read the Terms and Conditions for specific details concerning purchasing, downloads and refunds. I hope you enjoy my works. I’m always open to ideas for new works and constructive comments on my existing works, so please send these to me at kevin@kroberson.com.
Thanks for stopping by and please check back often for new works!
