Meet The Composer
Hailing from the panhandle of Texas, Kevin was born and raised in Amarillo and attended Amarillo High School, where he was a member of the award winning Symphonic Band, Symphonic Orchestra and Jazz Ensemble. Along with the Sweepstakes Award winning Symphonic Band, the Symphonic Orchestra was named All-State Honor Orchestra and the AHS Jazz Ensemble performed at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Montreux, Switzerland. He later received a Bachelors of Music Education from West Texas A & M University, studying trombone with Don Baird and Joe Cox and a Masters of Music in Composition from the University of North Texas, studying with Martin Mailman and Newell K. Brown. Kevin also taught instrumental music, grades 5 through 12 for two years before changing his career path to his hobby of software development, where he has worked since 1989.
Recently, he was drawn back into music and started composing again after more than 30 years, beginning with works for concert band, chorus and string orchestra. Kevin plans to continue composing for a wide variety of genres well into retirement from the IT industry. He hopes to provide fresh, new music for education and performance and distribute it online.
